The presentation of the Balearic Electronic Commerce Guide has taken place this morning at Parc Bit. This guide is a compilation of everything that a company or an entrepreneur has to consider when opening a virtual business. A useful tool for people who want to sell on internet and also for those who already do.
This publication of the Balearic Observatory of the Information Society (OBSI), is the result of an update of the guide published in 2013, which arose, on one hand, as a result of the demand for consultation made by different actors of the Balearic Islands during the last 5 years and, on the other hand, for the continuous expansion of electronic commerce and the technologies that are linked.
Our colleague David Ezquerro, Global Partnerships Manager in Roiback, has presented to the media with Biel Frontera, Managing Director of the Fundación Bit and Xavier March, president of GsBit, the contribution that Roiback has made to the guide in its section “online bookings in the tourism sector.” David has said that “for Roiback it has been a pleasure to collaborate with the writing of the guide“. During his talk, he also pointed out that in order to achieve satisfactory results in online sales, “websites not only have to have an attractive design but they also have to be prepared to receive an important traffic of visitors that can become reservations“.
Roiback is an associate member of Turistec, an international cluster dedicated to Information and Communication Technologies applied to Tourism. In addition to being the first industrial cluster of the Balearic Islands, the organization was also a pioneer in Spain when it came to concentrating the know-how of the tourism sector.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHEN OPENING A VIRTUAL STORE?
Regarding the contents of the guide, after making a first analysis of the different types of e-commerce, the publication reviews other important aspects to take into account when starting an online business, such as the economic cost, which will be conditioned for the functionalities, the type of technology (open source, e-commerce extensions in content managers, virtual stores in the cloud, virtual shopping centers, own markets and collaborative economy), payment, logistics and legal aspects.
The guide also includes a section on online bookings in the tourism sector, since this sector is the main engine of the Balearic economy. Online booking engines allow clients of tourist establishments to make reservations in real time and from any website and, at the same time, the company can manage availability, apply their commercial policies without having to depend on intermediaries and carry out campaigns and promotions to enhance the direct channel.
